Ritalin May Cause Heart Arrhythmias

This article highlights something that has been widely known and written about for years. This is why I recommend a pre-medication EKG to pediatric patients who will be placed on a trial of stimulant medication for ADHD.

The information in this article is not new info but in my experience it has been widely ignored. There have been many studies linking ADHD medications to arrhythmias. A pre-medication EKG has been recommended by a number of journal articles. Please talk to your doctor if you have concerns. If you or a loved one are one of my patients and have declined the EKG I offered please reconsider. I do not receive any type of compensation for sending kids for EKGs.
